![]() The game has the hatch mechanic that rewards bad players with easy escapes and keys that are currently broken because they require no skill to leave. The game is extremely survivor sided with them having abilities that can in theory stun the killer for a full minute worth of earned play time, decisive strike says 5 seconds but re-chasing the person might as well be a waste of 20 seconds at best. If you want to play an afk simulator, turn off your computer and stare at a wall or something. ![]() You could also immerse and play supper passive which is unfun for almost everyone, except people that want to play the game like a scary movie rather than an actual game, because the killer does nothing and the survivor just hides. It's an all or nothing experience that you have fun only making fun of the other person for being bad for the most part. Someone that knows how to do it, the killer can literally do nothing. Someone that doesn't know how to do it - its doomed. It feels rewarding to escape because of the scary music, but did you really do anything that engaging? You might as well play candy crush and you perform more mental skills than doing a gen in DBD. Yes, you have to run away from the killer if they come by, but played optimally, something that that community seems to consider ToXiC, you can sit on a gen for a full minute and a half and do nothing. You sit on an object for a minute and a half and you click a button every now and then. Survivors (DBD): From the survivor side, dead by daylight is in it's essence one of the most boring gameplay experiences I have ever had. So it is unfortunate that monstrum can't compete with the sheer overwhelming presence of nostalgia re-skin click-bait, but it should not matter if monstrum was the better game and for the most part - it is. ![]() The reality of the fact is that licensed killers are actually just skins or graphical changes that entice players to play a game. So to an extent, it does feel like the gaming community as a whole is fairly entitled to have all the bells and whistles without even caring about the most important aspect of the game - THE GAMEPLAY! Another important distinction that DBD has over monstrum are the licensed killers. From what I've heard of people, this seems to be a big turn off for people and it personally irritates me because other really good games didn't have to look like they had 8 million bucks spent on them for the games to be enjoyable. That being said, the game is in pre-release and I really hope they get this fixed sooner rather than later. Starting with the rougher one for monstrum, graphics for the game are a still wonky and the animations feel a bit weightless and clunky. I wanted to make this post because of the 2 things that worried me and upset me about the asymmetrical horror community: engaging gameplay and graphics. I have about 500 hours on dead by daylight, a similar asymmetric horror game, and I peaked rank 1 on both survivor and killer. I'm brand new to the game, like the majority of players. Start running.Hey guys, my name is Epic King Salt, but I prefer Epic. In a different ship, probably against a different monster. Get killed in Monstrum and you'll be starting again. Prepare for a different gameplay environment each time you play as the ship's interior shifts shape with every run, changing the location of items along the way.ĭiscover different methods of escape and delve into the bowels of the ship to recover items you need to repair them. Can you work your way out of an ambush or escape a direct attack? And will the same actions work every time? Can you survive Monstrum?įace one of three monster types each play-through, each one with different behaviours and tactics.
